Why The Seas with Nemo & Friends Is Perfect for Babies and Young Kids

When most people think about Walt Disney World, they picture roller coasters, castles, and character meet-and-greets. But hidden inside EPCOT is one of the largest aquariums in the United States – and surprisingly, many guests walk right past it without realizing just how impressive it is.

During our recent trip to Disney World with our almost three-month-old son, we made sure to spend time exploring The Seas with Nemo & Friends. Since we’re on a mission to visit every major aquarium in Florida, this stop was a must. While it may not be the first attraction people think of when planning an EPCOT day, it ended up being one of our favorite places to slow down, cool off, and enjoy some incredible marine life.

What Is The Seas with Nemo & Friends?

Located in World Nature at EPCOT, The Seas with Nemo & Friends combines a family-friendly dark ride with a massive public aquarium. After boarding your “clamobile,” you’ll follow Nemo, Dory, and friends on a gentle underwater adventure before exiting directly into the aquarium itself.

Unlike many aquariums that charge separate admission, entry is included with your EPCOT ticket, making it one of the best hidden values inside Walt Disney World.

Whether you’re traveling with young kids, taking a break from the Florida heat, or simply love marine life, it’s easy to spend far more time here than you originally planned.

One of the Largest Aquariums in the United States

One of the biggest surprises is the sheer size of the aquarium.

The main saltwater habitat holds approximately 5.7 million gallons of water, making it one of the largest aquariums in the country. Massive viewing windows allow guests to watch hundreds of marine animals swimming through coral reef environments.

The aquarium houses thousands of animals representing dozens of species, creating an experience that feels much larger than most visitors expect from a Disney attraction.

Standing in front of the giant observation windows almost feels like watching an underwater movie. Every few seconds, something new swims by – from graceful rays to enormous sea turtles.

Marine Animals You’ll See

One of our favorite parts was simply taking our time and watching the animals.

Depending on the day, you may see:

As Florida residents, we always get excited to see manatees.

The manatee habitat at EPCOT is especially meaningful because Disney partners with wildlife organizations to care for rescued manatees that need rehabilitation before they’re eventually released back into the wild whenever possible.

Watching these gentle giants glide effortlessly through the water is incredibly relaxing, and they’re always a favorite stop for families with young children.

Perfect for Families with Babies

Traveling to Disney with an infant can feel overwhelming at times, but The Seas with Nemo & Friends ended up being one of the easiest and most enjoyable attractions for our family.

Even before we reached the aquarium, our almost three-month-old son was completely captivated. As you enter the pavilion, the ceiling is designed to look like sunlight shimmering through ocean waves. He couldn’t stop staring up at the moving “waves” above us, completely mesmerized by the light and motion. It was one of those little details we probably wouldn’t have appreciated nearly as much if we weren’t experiencing Disney through his eyes.

Once inside, his attention immediately shifted to the jellyfish exhibit. The glowing tanks and slow, graceful movements kept him completely engaged. After that, he loved sitting in front of the enormous viewing windows, watching hundreds of colorful fish swim by. It was amazing seeing his eyes follow schools of fish as they darted across the tank, along with rays and sea turtles slowly gliding through the water. Those simple moments ended up becoming some of our favorite memories from his very first trip to Disney World.

The ride itself is gentle, with no major drops or sudden movements, making it a great attraction for families with babies and young children. Afterward, the aquarium provides plenty of room to stroll with a stroller while exploring the exhibits at your own pace. It was the perfect place to slow down, cool off, and simply enjoy watching our son experience something completely new.

If you’re visiting Disney with a baby or toddler, don’t rush through this pavilion. Between the calming atmosphere, colorful marine life, and interactive exhibits, it ended up being one of the highlights of our EPCOT day.

Educational Without Feeling Like School

One thing Disney consistently does well is making learning fun.

Throughout the aquarium you’ll find interactive exhibits explaining:

• Human impacts on the oceans

If you’ve ever visited Disney during the summer, you know how intense the Florida heat can be.

The aquarium offers something many guests desperately need:

• A slower, more relaxing pace
• Plenty of indoor space

We found ourselves spending much longer here than we expected simply because it was such a peaceful place to unwind between attractions.

• Visit during the hottest part of the afternoon or just as it begins to rain. It’s one of the coolest places in EPCOT, and all indoors.
• Take your time. Many guests rush through after the ride, but the aquarium is worth exploring.
• Spend a few minutes at the giant viewing windows. New animals swim by every few moments.
• Check the daily schedule. You may catch educational presentations or animal care talks.
• Bring your camera. There are plenty of opportunities to capture beautiful marine life photos.

Is It Worth Visiting?

Absolutely. Many Disney attractions are built around thrills, but The Seas with Nemo & Friends offers something entirely different. It’s peaceful, educational, beautifully themed, and surprisingly impressive.

As we’re working our way through every major aquarium in Florida, we genuinely believe this is one of the state’s most underrated aquarium experiences. While it isn’t a standalone destination like Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium or The Florida Aquarium, the fact that it’s included with your EPCOT admission makes it an incredible value.

Whether you’re an aquarium enthusiast, visiting with young children, or simply looking for a relaxing break from the crowds, The Seas with Nemo & Friends deserves a spot on your EPCOT itinerary.

For our family, it wasn’t just another Disney attraction – it became one of the most memorable parts of our son’s first Disney trip. Watching him stare at the shimmering “waves” overhead, smile at the glowing jellyfish, and follow colorful fish swimming across the enormous aquarium windows reminded us that sometimes the most magical moments at Disney aren’t on the biggest rides. They’re the quiet ones you never expected.
