If you’re searching for romantic things to do in Seoul, this evening itinerary is perfect for couples who want something meaningful, memorable, and easy to recreate. Whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or simply traveling together, this romantic evening blends tradition, creativity, and some of the most iconic views in the city.

Instead of having a traditional wedding, which can easily cost between $3,000 and $5,000 or more in the United States, my husband and I decided to do something that felt far more personal to us. We chose to put that money toward travel and combine our wedding and honeymoon into one unforgettable experience in South Korea.

At the time of this trip, we had been together for almost eight years. We didn’t feel rushed to follow tradition for the sake of it. What mattered most to us was celebrating our relationship in a way that reflected who we are and what we love: shared experiences, meaningful moments, and creating memories together.

While we officially turned in our wedding paperwork after returning home, this trip was our symbolic wedding celebration. We spent two full weeks in South Korea and Japan celebrating our honeymoon, and although we exchanged our vows in Gyeongju, this romantic evening in Seoul was a huge part of what made the entire experience feel complete.

Romantic Thing to Do #1: Hanbok Rental in Seoul for Couples

One of the most romantic things to do in Seoul, especially for first-time visitors, is renting hanbok and exploring the city’s historic palace areas together.

Although we chose to do our hanbok experience elsewhere on this trip, it’s something I’ve done before and would absolutely recommend doing in Seoul, particularly as the start of a romantic evening. Many hanbok rental shops are located near major palaces, making it easy to plan without a lot of extra travel time. You can also book it ahead of time that way you don’t have to wait at all in line and make sure there’s a rental available for you.

What Surprised Me Most About Wearing Hanbok

Before my first hanbok experience, I had a small worry in the back of my mind about wearing the hanbok. I knew hanbok rentals were common for visitors, but I wasn’t sure how it would feel once I was actually there.

What surprised me most was how encouraging and welcoming people were. So many Koreans complimented us, told us we looked beautiful, said we looked cool, and even thanked us for giving hanbok a try. There was a sense of pride and excitement from locals that made the experience feel genuinely shared rather than awkward.

There was also a lot of natural social interaction. People smiled, stopped to chat, and asked questions. It was honestly a great way to meet a lot of locals.

Once we were in the palace, we did a lot of couple photos. We also just enjoyed all the romantic views of the palace. It is absolutely stunning.

Timing tip:

I recommend starting the hanbok rental around lunchtime.

Eat lunch around 12:00 PM Finish by 1:00 PM Explore palace grounds in hanbok from 1:00–3:00 PM

You’ll want at least two full hours to explore, take photos, and enjoy the experience without rushing.

Romantic Thing to Do #2: Make Your Own Rings at Ring University

Of all the romantic things to do in Seoul, making our own rings at Ring University was by far the most meaningful.

This was where we made our wedding rings, and it became one of the most special moments of our entire trip.

Why This Experience Meant So Much to Us

Seoul is a very busy city. As travelers, we were constantly on the move, navigating public transportation, exploring new neighborhoods, and trying to see as much as possible. The ring-making class was the first moment of the trip where we truly sat down, slowed down, and took everything in.

We had never done anything like this before. Creating something with our hands, together, felt grounding and intimate. Throughout the class, we were laughing, talking about what we wanted our rings to represent, discussing which details felt meaningful, and enjoying the process rather than rushing through it.

There was even a moment where they used a small flame torch to solder the ring, which felt exciting!

What the Ring-Making Process Is Like

You begin with a straight piece of silver that is measured and cut to your ring size. That piece is then soldered together to form a circle. Once connected, the ring is placed onto a metal cone, where you gently tap it into the correct size.

After shaping, you grind and smooth the ring until the surface feels just right. From there, you can personalize it with engravings, textures, or gemstones, making each ring completely unique.

The Atmosphere at Ring University

When we visited, the studio was quiet and incredibly intimate. Although there are multiple tables, we were the only couple booked at that time, which made it feel very private.

Even if other couples are present, each table has its own instructor, so the experience still feels one-on-one. Soft, relaxing music plays throughout the class, and there’s a small coffee bar behind the register. They even provide tumblers with lids so no metal shavings accidentally end up in your drink, which is such a thoughtful detail.

The entire experience takes about an hour and a half, but I recommend planning at least three hours total to allow for transit time, a short break, or a small snack before or after.

Romantic Thing to Do #3: Cable Car & Sunset at N Seoul Tower

To finish the evening, take the cable car up to N Seoul Tower, one of the most iconic and romantic spots in Seoul.

Planning Around Sunset in Seoul

Sunset times in Seoul change by season, so planning ahead is important.

Spring: ~6:30–7:45 PM

Summer: ~7:40–7:55 PM

Fall: ~5:45–7:00 PM

Winter: ~5:15–6:10 PM

I recommend arriving at the tower 45 to 60 minutes before sunset. This gives you time to ride the cable car, explore the grounds, take photos, and enjoy the atmosphere before the sun starts to set.

Love Locks & Sunset Views

Once at the top, you’ll see countless love locks lining the fences. There are vending machines and local vendors selling locks, and we purchased ours from one of the vendors nearby. He even let us borrow a marker so we could write our names and date.

We spent time walking around together, finding the perfect spot for our lock, before heading to the observation deck. Watching the city slowly light up as the sun went down was absolutely breathtaking.

There were many other couples there, especially around sunset, which added to the romantic energy without feeling overwhelming. It felt like a shared moment, quiet but full of emotion.

Frequently Asked Questions: Romantic Things to Do in Seoul

Is this romantic evening itinerary good for first-time visitors to Seoul?

Yes, absolutely. This itinerary is ideal for first-time visitors because it includes experiences most couples already want to do, like wearing hanbok and visiting N Seoul Tower, while adding something unique with the ring-making class. It balances must-see attractions with meaningful, hands-on experiences.

How much walking is involved?

There is a fair amount of walking, especially during the hanbok and palace portion of the day. However, all locations are easily accessible by Seoul’s public transportation system. We walked when it made sense and used buses or the subway between neighborhoods. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.

How far in advance should we book the ring-making class?

I recommend booking the ring-making class at least one to two weeks in advance, especially if you’re traveling during peak seasons like spring or fall. Time slots can fill up quickly, and this experience works best when it’s not rushed.

Is the ring-making class only for engaged or married couples?

Not at all. While we made our wedding rings here, the class is perfect for dating couples, anniversaries, honeymoons, or even close friends. You can create promise rings, keepsake rings, or simply something symbolic of your trip.

What if we don’t want to wear hanbok?

If hanbok isn’t your style, you can easily swap that portion of the evening for a relaxed café visit, a stroll through a historic neighborhood, or a museum visit. That said, even people who are hesitant at first often end up loving the hanbok experience once they see how welcoming and encouraging it feels.

What’s the best season for this romantic evening?

Spring and fall are especially beautiful in Seoul, with comfortable temperatures and longer daylight hours. Summer works well too, though it can be hot and humid. Winter sunsets are earlier, but the city lights at night can feel especially romantic if you dress warmly.

How expensive is this itinerary overall?

Costs vary depending on options chosen, but compared to traditional wedding or anniversary celebrations, this itinerary is surprisingly affordable. Hanbok rentals, the ring-making class, and the cable car are all reasonably priced, especially considering how meaningful the experiences are.

Is N Seoul Tower crowded at sunset?

Sunset is one of the busiest times to visit, but it still feels romantic rather than overwhelming. Arriving early helps, and once the sun begins to set, most people naturally quiet down to enjoy the view.
